e-book 'backups' for books you own?
With my new Kindle in hand, I would love to box up or donate all of my old books and use my e-reader for everything. The only problem is that to do so would require me to pay again for each title I own - and with hundreds of books in my house that certainly isn’t an option! I really wish there was a site where I could download an electronic version of my books for free (or a small fee). ...

Amazon Kindle 2 Review
Image via Wikipedia Just received this little beauty as a very nice Xmas gift -apparently many others did as well - and I have to say that I already love it! Getting started reading is a snap.  If you purchased the Kindle for yourself, your account comes already set up and ready for you to use.  Since I received this as a gift the account was set up under my relative’s name- which is a...

Is my iPhone making me a more patient person?
Image via CrunchBase Reading over this article Can a Smart Phone Make You More Patient? brought something to mind that I have noticed over the past year since I bought my iPhone - I simply do not mind waiting anymore.  Stuck in the post office?  I bring up my Twitter feed, update my Facebook profile, read a book, play some new app I’ve downloaded, or keep up with any emails I haven’t...

It's the Little Things...
Picked up a 4-pack of Organic Valley Chocolate Milk the other day - packing it in with my lunch made me feel like kid again - and got a pleasant surprise… An expandable straw!!! Pretty sweet- at first I was pretty mad at the small size of the drinking device. “How the hell am I going to get my drink on with this puny thing,” I asked myself.  Lo and behold, out pops the second...

Where's Waldo iPhone App Review
Image via Wikipedia I have to admit that I still love pulling out my old Where’s Waldo books by Martin Handford when I visit my parents, remembering the hours spent obsessing over finding every little item from the checklists (scrolls, glasses, hats, canes, etc) and just starting at the gorgeous scenes. I always thought that the series would be great on an iPhone, so when I saw this app the...

"Gullibility" of Various Search Engine Users
Reading through this article on techcrunch, relating how users of Microsoft products are more likely to click on an ad than other users: “Is there something about people who use Microsoft products that makes them more likely to click on an online ad? Some data from search advertising network Chitika suggests so. Earlier this week, we noted that people coming to Websites from Bing are about...

Dragon Dictation for iPhone Review
Image via Wikipedia Downloaded the (Free) Dragon Dictation iPhone app yesterday.  This app comes from Nuance, who sells the expensive and (I am presuming based on reviews) accurate Dragon NaturallySpeaking software - so I had high hopes about it even though I have had mixed experiences with free productivity iPhone apps in the past. The application could not be easier to use - simply open it up,...

Real Time Search Active at Google - Real Time...
Image via CrunchBase Google announced yesterday that they were launching real-time search support to include public updates from Twitter, Facebook Pages, MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and identi.ca directly onto its Google.com results pages.  Real-time updates will live-update onto the results page into a scrollable box, filtered for spam, and be sorted based on the ‘quality’ of the...

Review: Zemanta - Auto-add Site Content to Blogs
Image via CrunchBase Knowing that I simply do not have the time now to spend researching references, finding images, and getting additional filler for my blogs, I have decided to try out Zemanta in an attempt to make my posts here more relevant and useful. Does it do the job?  Yes and No - I have mixed feelings about this service, and while I feel like it is a great idea, the application seems...

Tumblr, Dead-Simple Blogging Service
Image via CrunchBase I thought it was appropriate to create my first post about New York City start-up Tumblr since I am using their service to create this blog!  Tumblr, founded a couple of years back by a young (19!) David Karp (who cannot seem to stay long out of the social media spotlight), aims to be a dead simple blogging application for creating articles meant to be media-rich and I am...
